Aegina Technologies Quadruples Turnover Over 25 Years With PSL Datatrack

Aegina Technologies Limited, a precision engineering company based in Portsmouth, is a long-standing customer of PSL Datatrack. Having used the modular production control software for over 25 years, Aegina has quadrupled its turnover and is now targeting even greater growth.

Specialising in the subcontract manufacture of components and assemblies for the Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Underwater and other sectors, Aegina employs around 30 staff and holds AS9100 accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to quality and reliability.

“Our engineers work hard to ensure every customer receives the right level of service and quality for their project,” explains Ieva Kapteine, co-owner of Aegina. “Our processes, machinery and software are regularly updated in keeping with the advances of technology, and PSL Datatrack has been central to this evolution.”

Aegina’s journey with PSL Datatrack began in the early 2000s, with a handful of users accessing a small system centred around the core modules of Quotations and Works Orders. At the time, the company’s turnover was around £800k per year.

Over the years, as the business has expanded, Aegina has invested in additional modules available from PSL Datatrack, including Purchase Orders, Material Stocks, the Sequential Scheduler and Gauge Calibration, among others. Each investment was made at a time that suited Aegina’s growth, supporting its increasingly rigorous traceability and quality requirements.

“The growth has been remarkable,” Ieva comments. “We started with only a couple of modules, and now our turnover has quadrupled. PSL Datatrack has scaled with us every step of the way.”

PSL Datatrack’s integrated approach allows Aegina to provide 100% traceability, from material purchase to final delivery. “Every piece of material is booked in, allocated to a works order, and all relevant information is automatically printed on the customer paperwork,” Ieva comments. “It’s all managed through PSL Datatrack, making conformity checks and certificate retrieval simple and reliable.”

Ieva’s fellow co-owner, Mick Chalk, adds: “Being able to instantly check the Material Stocks module means I can see if we have the right material in stock, which reduces lead times and makes quoting and planning much faster.”

The PSL Datatrack system is used across the entire shop floor, enabling seamless communication between the office and production staff. Jobs are scheduled with details drawn from quotations, allowing weekly schedule reruns to accommodate incoming work and ensure that staff meet target delivery dates.

“The Sequential Scheduler is invaluable,” notes Ieva. “It allows us to see capacity, manage spend and ensure that the shop floor has the information it needs – without overwhelming them with unnecessary details. It’s one module with two perspectives, tailored to the user’s role.”

PSL Datatrack also supports management in making strategic decisions. “If a customer needs components urgently, we can see the gaps and move work around to suit,” continues Ieva. “We can log in from home, monitor progress and provide accurate updates. It’s all about being responsive and keeping the business running efficiently.”

For over a quarter of a century, Aegina has consistently benefited from PSL Datatrack’s UK-based support and expertise. “The team is always friendly, professional and quick to help,” Mick says. “That level of support gives us confidence that the system will continue to evolve with our business and meet our needs.”

Reflecting on the long-term partnership between PSL Datatrack and Aegina, Ieva concludes: “The last 25 years have been excellent, and we’re looking forward to the next 25. With PSL Datatrack supporting our operations, we see potential for further growth and new markets ahead.”

With over 20 CNC machines and dedicated quality equipment in use, Aegina Technologies Limited has achieved remarkable efficiency, accuracy and traceability, all underpinned by PSL Datatrack. The combination of experienced staff, robust systems and modular software has enabled the company to increase its turnover from £800k to over £3.2 million – all while maintaining the highest quality standards in an increasingly demanding industry.
