PSL Datatrack Elevates Precision With Works Orders Enhancements

Posted in Technical Members News on 11th Jun 2024

PSL Datatrack, a leading provider of production control software for subcontract precision engineers, has unveiled a series of significant enhancements to its Works Orders module, often referred to as the “hub” of the modular system.

The flexible module efficiently manages ‘make to order’ and ‘make for stock’ processes, seamlessly translating quotations into sales orders and overseeing the entire manufacturing workflow to invoicing. Whether for single components, products utilising a Bill of Materials (BOM) or an assembly structure, Works Orders dynamically caters to the diverse production needs of PSL Datatrack users.

Updates available in the latest version of PSL Datatrack empower users with unprecedented control and flexibility over their sales orders, reinforcing PSL Datatrack’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions to the unique needs of precision engineering businesses. These enhancements are poised to transform the way manufacturers manage their entire production processes.

A configurable date limit now ensures the system only allows copying of a works order or creation of a new generation from it within a specified time frame, enhancing precision and relevance. On this theme, another new setting mandates users to specify whether a works order is Automotive or Non-automotive, if relevant, ensuring accuracy in customer references.

The system also offers new configuration settings for splitting BOM works orders. These intelligent splitting options provide control over whether the system proposes the quantity to split based on stock availability, ensuring seamless allocation without compromising batch integrity. Users also gain control over the status of split works orders, determining whether they should be set to ‘pending’ or inherit the same status as the donor works order.

Additionally, a new configuration option enables the inclusion of pending works orders in order acknowledgements, providing flexibility in the acknowledgement process.

Finally, a new menu option simplifies the creation of multiple copies of a works order, streamlining the processing of a schedule of orders. Configuration options are available to provide control and set defaults, reducing manual effort.

These enhancements collectively empower manufacturers to navigate the intricacies of their workflows seamlessly, promoting accuracy, efficiency and adaptability in today’s dynamic precision engineering landscape.

“The Works Orders module is the heartbeat of our system, and these developments represent a significant step in providing our users with unparalleled control and adaptability,” comments Geoff Gartland, Managing Director of PSL Datatrack. “We remain committed to delivering solutions that elevate the efficiency of precision engineering businesses, and these updates underscore that commitment.”

Subcontractors looking to stay ahead in a competitive market can therefore leverage the new functionality available in PSL Datatrack’s Works Orders module to optimise their precision engineering operations, reduce human error and ultimately enhance overall productivity.
